Body of missing man found in Tippecanoe River after he went fishing, never returned

The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office confirmed Thursday that the dead body found lying on the bank of Tippecanoe River Tuesday was that of a missing 59-year-old man.

Patrick Kelly was reported missing by family members after he went fishing Tuesday and never returned home, authorities said.

His body was discovered at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, lying on the bank of the river by a fisherman who called 911.

    Investigators are now waiting for toxicology results to determine how Kelly died.

    Kelly was reportedly fishing from a kayak but had managed to reach the shore and sit on the bank where he passed away, according to the sheriff’s office.
