Car sold for scrap at auction carried dead human body in trunk

Authorities in Lynwood, Washington are investigating after a lifeless human body was discovered in the trunk of a car sold for scrap at a state scrapyard earlier this month.

Workers at Braven Auto and Metals made the grisly finding on Aug. 4 inside the purchased 2002 Ford Explorer that was set to be crushed.

“We want to address a situation we are sure many of you heard about,” the firm wrote on Facebook. “Yes, there was a body of a deceased man discovered in a vehicle once it arrived at our yard.”

  • “This vehicle was purchased for auction, however, we do not have any other details but want to focus on the positive side of this and that is the fact that this man has been found and his family will know where he is and hopefully get some closure.”

    “We would also like to thank the Lake Stevens Police Department for their quick response to this situation.”

    Talking about the incident to local reporters, Braven HR director Michael Smith said that he had never witnessed something like that in his life.

    “To me, it looked like he may have been staying in his vehicle. There was a sleeping bag,” he added.
