A house explosion in Evansville, Indiana left three people dead Thursday, authorities said.
At least two others were injured when the explosion occurred at around 1 p.m. damaging 39 houses and sending debris flying over a 100-foot radius, Evansville Fire Department Chief Mike Connelly said.

Local authorities and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are investigating the scene to determine the cause of the deadly blast.
“We thought a tree fell on the building or a car ran into the place,” a witness working at a nearby office said. “Debris from the ceiling came down.”
“Everybody immediately ran out of the building. We thought the building was going to come down.”
