Two young children of a Texas woman busted over a domestic incident were found hours after they were left in the care of the mother’s boyfriend.
Police arrested Edward Steele, aka “Two Feathers” on suspicion of murder after several witnesses reported seeing him with the toddlers around the Hopland Rancheria area where they were abandoned.
A one-year-old boy was found dead on train tracks at around 4:30 p.m. not far from where his older brother, a 2-year-old, was located “alone and in distress” suffering heat-related issues.
Steele was supposed to care for the toddlers at a local motel where the family lived after their mother was busted on misdemeanor domestic violence involving him, just before dawn on the same day.
Investigators said that autopsy results will determine the charges Steele may face over the younger child’s death.
