Footprints lead police to 3 drowned sisters in Texas pond

The bodies of three young sisters were recovered from a Cass County pond early Saturday, hours after their family reported them missing.

Divers were at the scene at around 9:30 p.m. Friday with deputies from the state park’s department and Wildlife Game Warden.

  • The girls’ bodies were retrieved from the pond at around 2 a.m. They were identified as Zi’ariel Oliver, 9, Amiyah Hughes, 8, and Temari Oliver, 5, by officials.

    Footprints and a shoe belonging to one of the sisters were found at the scene, investigators said.

    “None of them had lifejackets on, so I don’t know how strong of swimmers they were or if were swimmers at all,” Lt. Game Warden Jason Jones said of the victims.
