Houston news, Texas news.

The grieving father of a slain woman whose body was stuffed in a trash can and tossed into Buffalo Bayou is asking anyone with information regarding her death to come forward.

31-year-old Shelby Vercher’s body was discovered inside the trash container late Tuesday, hours after she told her father that she was targeted.

“She told me, ‘Daddy, someone put a hit out on me,’” David Vercher said of their last conversation. “No, daddy, it will be OK’…apparently, it won’t be OK.”

David added that his daughter, who recently moved to Houston from Tennessee, mentioned that she had to run errands before she was found in the sealed-off bin.

“My daughter may be a lot of things, but she wasn’t trash,” he said of the mom-of-3.

“She would do anything in the world for anybody. There was nothing selfish about her. Nothing. She was trying to get her life together, but it got cut short. Somebody needs to pay for this.”
