4 people killed, 6 injured in Rio Vista head-on crash

Four people were killed and six injured after a tragic head-on collision in Rio Vista late Wednesday.

The crash occurred at around 8:15 p.m. along Highway 12 in the area of Summerset Drive and Church road, the California Highway Patrol agents said in a statement.

The ten victims were in two vehicles and four of them died instantly. The injured were rushed to local hospitals by Medic Ambulance.

  • Reports from the scene revealed that the involved vehicles are a large SUV and a mid-sized sedan. The SUV carried a Mexican family of seven on vacation.

    It was also reported that alcohol containers were recovered from the scene although it remains unclear which vehicle carried the beverages.

    “Our service for the non-emergency calls might be slightly delayed for the next few hours, as one of four fire engines is down-staffed due to our firefighter/paramedics assisting with the transport of the patients,” Rio Vista authorities advised in a statement.
