Prattville news, Alabama news.

A missing Alabama woman’s mummified remains were discovered in a storage unit in Prattville more than a year after she was last seen alive by her mother.

On July 12, the remains of 36-year-old Britta Ann Lashley were found in a storage unit belonging to James Michael Barrett who reportedly kept comforting her mother that she would call her.

“Tammy Lashley [the victim’s mom] last spoke with James Michael Barrett by phone, several weeks before filing the [missing person] report,” the court document read.

“He advised her that he would have Britta Lashley contact her; however, Britta Lashley did not contact her mother.”

“Based on Britta’s physical description, her known tattoos, and other investigative findings, the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office is confident the remains are those of Britta Ann Lashley.”

The victim’s mother “believed something bad had happened to her daughter. Britta was last known to be in the company of James “Michael” Barrett.”

Investigators are now working to determine how Britta died. An autopsy was performed earlier this month but findings are pending.

“She was tossed out like a piece of garbage,” Britta’s sister said. “Nobody deserves to end this way.”
