Missing Missouri woman found buried in barn at uncle’s residence

Authorities in Missouri are investigating the murder of a missing 21-year-old woman whose remains were buried in a barn outside her uncle’s residence.

While investigating the disappearance of Jessi Wilfong, who was last seen alive on May 19, detectives learned that her uncle and his girlfriend accompanied her to their Millersville home.

Teresa L. Baumgartner, the uncle’s girlfriend, told detectives they spent the evening with the victim, “sitting around a bonfire at her residence drinking and talking.”

    A search of the couple’s home revealed evidence suggesting a murder had been committed. On June 18, investigators located a recently dug spot in a barn where human remains were buried.

    The remains were positively identified as Wilfong and the manner of death was a homicide.

    Baumgartner was charged with tampering with evidence and “additional charges are anticipated against one or more individuals.”
