A 32-year-old Atlanta man is accused of slaughtering his mother, stepfather, and cousin on Tuesday following a domestic dispute, the Cobb County police said.
Marcus Smith was arrested and charged with three counts of murder and aggravated assault for fatally shooting 60-year-old Janice Peaks, 63-year-old Donnell Peaks, and 38-year-old Cameron King.
Officers declared Donnell and Janice dead at the scene at around 12:30 p.m. while the younger victim succumbed to gunshot wounds at a nearby hospital.
“I was stunned,” the family’s neighbor Debra Pinkins Marcus said. “Nothing like that has ever happened in my neighborhood.”
“Good people, good people. We always exchange Christmas gifts every year, and he’s always willing to loan a hand if you need him.”
