Texas woman kills husband to protect kids: ‘I wish I was sorry, but I’m not’

A Texas woman is accused of killing her husband after she waited for police outside the home where she shot him several times Saturday.

37-year-old Stephanie Tuell told officers that she killed 58-year-old Joe Abril to protect her children from him.

  • “I wish I was sorry but I’m not. No one messes with my kids,” Tuell reportedly uttered while being apprehended.

    Abril was shot multiple times to the chest and back of the head. He was found unresponsive inside the family’s Odessa home at around 6:20 p.m. and pronounced dead shortly later.

    Tuell was charged with first-degree murder with her bond set at $100,000. She is being held at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
