Statesville news, North Carolina news.

A beloved North Carolina man and his 5-year-old son were killed at the scene when a golf cart ride ended with a deadly crash earlier this week.

Michael Marlow, 39, and his son were riding a golf cart with three other children and an adult when 23-year-old Austin Ray Harmon lost control of his Honda Accord and swerved into the wrong way, crashing into the cart.

“Golf carts are a fun recreational activity for folks to get out and go for a ride, but when that mixes with a collision with a vehicle the end is often tragic,” State Trooper Jeffrey Swagger said.
