Girl, 6, climbs over neighbor’s locked gate to swim in pool where she drowned

A North Carolina girl, 6, drowned in her neighbor’s pool after sneaking into his property Saturday, Gastonia Police said.

Za’myah Judge stacked “several chairs against her next-door neighbor’s locked pool gate” before climbing over and getting into the water.

The child’s younger brother saw her drowning and “ran for help after he did not see her re-surface.”

    Za’myah’s grieving mom said that she last had lunch with her family before heading to her bedroom, telling her mother “I love you.”

    “They snuck out,” the woman said. “The whole time I’m thinking she’s in her bedroom, they’re outside.”
