Houston news, Texas news.

A Houston man with a lengthy criminal history dating back to when he was 12 years old was reportedly out on bond when he “executed” a 9-year-old girl and nearly killed her mother late Monday.

22-year-old Jeremiah Jones was arrested the following evening in an Imperial Valley Drive parking lot after he fatally shot a 9-year-old girl and wounded her mother, who is his ex-girlfriend, in their Heights residence.

The grieving mother, Brittany Sorrells, had called 911 about the violent man four times since he was released from jail on bond.

“Since that relationship had ended between them, he was upset about it,” LHPD Lt. Horelica said.

Jones took the family’s TV off the wall and demanded Sorrells gives him her phone which she did. He then walked into a separate room where he intentionally shot the girl in the head killing her. Sorrells was shot in the shoulder but is expected to recover.

“I want our citizens to know we cannot and will not tolerate violence in our city, especially involving our young people,” HPD Chief Troy Finner added.
