Port Arthur news, Texas news.

A Texas judge has raised bonds for a Port Arthur mother and her adult daughter in connection with the starvation death of a 3-year-old boy with disabilities.

Justice Ben Collins added that the case was “the worst” he had ever seen in his 42 years of career. Port Arthur Police Detectives Mike Herbert shared the same point after responding to the family home at around 7:25 a.m. Tuesday.

“This particular case, there were 30-year-veteran officers there that were shook up over what they saw,” Herbert said of the “extremely emaciated” victim found at the scene.

Investigators declined to reveal details surrounding the child’s death or the women’s involvement noting the ongoing investigation.

“This is a very fluid investigation. The entire investigations division was involved in that case so there’s so many moving parts right now,” Herbert said.
