Florida mom leaves small children in bathtub while getting her nails done; finds 7-month-old dead

A Florida mom was arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child after she left her two sons unattended in a bathroom to get her nails done.

The May 20 incident resulted in the death of Alyssa Carolyn Jimmie’s

infant who drowned in the bathtub, police said.

Jimmie told detectives that she left the 7-month-old and 3-year-old boys alone in the tub with the water running because she knew the drain plug was missing and they wouldn’t drown.

But when she returned about ten minutes later, she found out that the drain was clogged with a towel and water filling the bathtub. Her younger son was unresponsive.

Police said in the affidavit that Jimmie’s “negligence resulted in the untimely death of ‘the victim’.”
