Beloved Indian singer KK suddenly passed away Tuesday after performing a concert in Kolkata, Indian news media reported.
Krishnakumar Kunnath began feeling sick during the performance attended by nearly a thousand fans but he remained on stage for about an hour.
Shortly later, the 53-year-old artist collapsed in his hotel room and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. KK’s
cause of death was determined to be a heart attack.
“Saddened by the untimely demise of noted singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK,” India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter.
“His songs reflected a wide range of emotions and struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti.”
