Badly decomposed body discovered in homeless camp during search for man later found safe & sound

Investigators in Oklahoma were left puzzled after making the gruesome discovery of a badly decomposed body while searching for a man who later returned home safe and sound.

During the search for 30-year-old Caleb Zoellner, a mentally ill man reported missing by his family after leaving his phone and wallet behind, officers combed a homeless camp and found the mysterious human remains.

  • Police Captain Thom Bell described the body as being in an extremely bad state of decomposition and completely ravaged by animals that it had no identifiable features.

    The morbid finding was made on Friday 27 May at around 3 p.m. on North Yale Avenue in Tulsa. The body had likely been there for “a long time.”

    Authorities are now awaiting autopsy results to learn more about the dead person and their cause of death.
