A boat collision on the Wilmington River, Georgia killed five people on Memorial Day while four others were rescued, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said.
Three missing bodies were recovered Sunday hours after the collision involving two motorboats carrying nine people traveling near the Oatland Island Wildlife Center docks in Savannah at around 10:30 a.m.
Four of the deceased were members of the same family, identified as Chris Leffler, Lori Leffler, and their sons Nate and Zach. Their daughter Katie and a pal have survived the ordeal.
The injured sustained minor wounds and were taken to Memorial Health Medical Center, one of them by a US Coast Guard helicopter.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources game wardens, the Chatham County Marine Patrol, and the Savannah Fire Department were among several agencies to respond to the crash.
