Lighting tech dies after bee attack while at work; found suspended from tree

A Texas grandfather was found suspended from a tree after being stung by thousands of bees while working at an Austin home.

Franco Galvan Martinez, a landscape lighting technician, was accidentally attacked by the angry hive of bees Thursday after he lost control of the ladder he was on.

  • “I guess in a panic trying to swat away the bees from himself, he kicked away the ladder,” a pastor and friend of the 53-year-old victim said.

    Martinez was completely covered by bees that killed him in less than 10 minutes. Firefighters used their hose on the insects to save Martinez but it was too late.

    Another person working with Martinez at the scene was also injured; the incident is being investigated.
