The alleged killer of a 13-year-old Oregon girl was identified Friday as a 16-year-old boy with a lengthy criminal record.
Milana Li was found dead in a small stream in Westside Linear Park near her family home hours after she vanished on May 8.
Daniel Ryan Gore was charged with first-degree murder and will likely be tried as an adult; prosecutors said that his criminal history dated back to 2020.
The Kazakhstan-native girl had left her family home at around 4 p.m. for a walk but never returned.
At around the same time, Gore’s father notified police that his fugitive son was believed to be in Beaverton; he had run away twice from a shelter for juveniles and from his father’s Salem home.
The medical examiner’s office had ruled Li’s death a homicide but did not specify a cause of death.
