A young Illinois man’s life was cut short while riding a car with a newlywed couple on their way to the wedding reception Saturday.
Chance Karnes had just celebrated his 20th birthday hours before the fatal crash in Monroe County, Illinois that overturned their Ford Bronco and threw the Best man away. He died at the scene.
“He was a handsome young man with beautiful blue eyes,” Chance’s grieving dad said. “He was an old soul.”
“He went to [horses] shows all over the Midwest and Oklahoma, Texas. He enjoyed that closed cowboy family that he was in.”
A former teacher of the late cowboy agreed with the victim’s father admitting that he “is going to be greatly missed.”
“This is just one of those terrible, terrible accidents that you question. But you just can’t replace those individuals.”
“He had leadership, stepped up to those responsibilities. The way he conducted himself; on the athletic field, in the classroom, in the shop…he’s just one of those people you can’t help but like.”
