Paratroopers sustain injuries after landing in North Carolina residential neighborhood

Two paratroopers have reportedly sustained injuries during a missed landing in a North Carolina residential neighborhoods Wednesday.

The Special Forces paratroopers were helped by Hoke County residents after one of them hit the roof of a building.

  • Army Maj. Rick Dickinson said that one member of the airborne unit was hospitalized in critical condition while the other was treated for superficial wounds at the scene.

    The soldiers were members of the 3rd Special Forces Group in Fort Bragg. Both are expected to make a full recovery.

    Army officials added that the crash-landed occurred amid jump training over St Mere-Eglise Drop Zone that involved Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopters.
