Texas toddler, 2, viciously mauled by coyote on front porch in ‘exceedingly rare’ incident

A Texas toddler was attacked by a coyote on the front porch of their home early Tuesday, Dallas authorities said.

The two-year-old suffered severe injuries during the attack outside their home; the wild animal fled when an officer opened fire and vanished in the woods.

    State Urban wildlife biologist Sam Kieschnick added that these animals’ attacks on people “are not just rare, they are exceedingly rare.”

    Between 1960 and 2006, there were only 142 reported attacks involving coyotes on humans in the United States and Canada.
