Elderly woman’s body found in freezer; live-in daughter says she didn’t see her in some time

The body of a 93-year-old Sebastian woman was found inside a freezer in her home garage this week, police said.

The grisly discovery was made Thursday after concerned neighbors asked police to check on the elderly woman, identified as Marie Hoskins, who had not been seen in public “for an extended period of time.”

  • Hoskins’ 64-year-old daughter who lived at the same home told police that she did not see her mother in “some time.”

    The following day, she came to the police headquarters for questioning without incident. After obtaining a search warrant, the officers discovered a large freezer in the garage with Hoskins’ remains inside.

    “Detectives are actively working with the Medical Examiner and the State Attorney’s Office on this case as it is still active at this time,” the Sebastian Police Department said.
