Couple electrocuted to death while trying risky TikTok art technique, garage burst into flames

The investigation into the deaths of a Wisconsin couple found inside a charred home earlier this month revealed they had been trying a daring TikTok art technique when things went tragic.

Tanya Rodriguez, 44, and James Carolfi, 52, were reportedly electrocuted to death well before their garage burst into flames that later spread to the entire home on April 6.

  • The pair were trying to create art in wood using the fractal process that requires special equipment including a high-voltage transformer to flow the current across wood pieces soaked with a chemical substance.

    According to the American Association of Woodturners, the fractal burning method is nationwide banned because one mistake during the process results in evident death.

    So far, 33 people died while trying the fractal burning practice which is gaining popularity on TikTok despite all the risks of using high-voltage electricity regardless of the user’s expertise level.
