A Texas man had reportedly carjacked the vehicle that later claimed his life in a tragic crash Tuesday, police said.
The carjacker, who was not identified, reportedly grabbed 72-year-old Shirlene Hernandez and repeatedly punched her face before fleeing in her car.

Not long before the vile assault, Hernandez’s car was located on Interstate 35 in Somerset with the carjacker dead inside it, police said.
Hernandez sustained bruising to her face and lost the car she used to go to work, according to a GoFundMe page set on her behalf.
“I just don’t want to quit working and so I’ve got to somehow get another car and that takes money and stuff. I’ve got to figure out what to do.”
