A Monmouth County jail inmate is facing manslaughter charges after the death of a fellow inmate he had badly beaten in the facility’s kitchen earlier this week.
Evan Raczkiewicz, 29, was originally charged with burglary, unlawful possession of a long gun, theft, and unlawful possession of a handgun.
Daniel Ferrara, 49, was found “unresponsive in the kitchen area of the jail at around 5:20 a.m.,” Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey said.
“Medical staff began life-saving efforts; however, Ferrara succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:03 a.m.”
A subsequent investigation “determined that Raczkiewicz had struck Ferrara multiple times prior to his death.”
