Monmouth County inmate charged after fellow prisoner beaten to death in jail kitchen

A Monmouth County jail inmate is facing manslaughter charges after the death of a fellow inmate he had badly beaten in the facility’s kitchen earlier this week.

Evan Raczkiewicz, 29, was originally charged with burglary, unlawful possession of a long gun, theft, and unlawful possession of a handgun.

  • Daniel Ferrara, 49, was found “unresponsive in the kitchen area of the jail at around 5:20 a.m.,” Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey said.

    “Medical staff began life-saving efforts; however, Ferrara succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:03 a.m.”

    A subsequent investigation “determined that Raczkiewicz had struck Ferrara multiple times prior to his death.”
