Authorities in Minneapolis are investigating a deadly shooting after a 10-year-old boy was shot and killed late Friday inside an apartment while alone with another child.
Reports of the shooting emerged at around 11:30 p.m. at an apartment in the 300 block of Hennepin Avenue where the two kids were alone.
The boy had a life-threatening gunshot wound when officers arrived at the scene; he was transported to a hospital where he passed shortly later.
Preliminary investigation showed that the other child present at the home was a family member of the deceased; authorities did not reveal further information about them.
The Minneapolis Forensic Unit was processing the scene for evidence; the Hennepin County Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine a manner of death.
