Maryland authorities described the deaths of a woman and her daughter as homicides after finding the body of the woman on I-95 on April 12.
Four days earlier, Danielle Shanae Parnell’s 3-year-old daughter was killed in a mattress fire at a Vancouver Road home, police said. Her other child, a 7-year-old, was placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
The 30-year-old’s body was found by a member of a survey crew working on the Cecil County interstate; it remains unclear how Parnell’s body ended up there.
“She was a single mom with two kids, but I thought she had moved, so I don’t know,” a neighbor told reporters.
“She had just stopped working out at the airport and she was looking for another job.”
Maryland State Police Homicide Unit has joined the Baltimore Police Department as they investigate the mysterious deaths.
