Indiana woman’s body found in drainage ditch, mile away from hit-and-run crash scene

The body of a missing Indiana woman was found in a drainage ditch, nearly one mile away from where her wrecked car had been located earlier this month.

The last time Ariana Taylor, 23, was seen alive she was leaving her Merrillville apartment complex at around 1 a.m. on April 3.

Later that morning, her Chevrolet Traverse was discovered crashed near the junction of interstates 80 and 94.

  • At the scene, detectives also found her gym shoes and jeans but her body remained unaccounted for. Investigators determined Taylor may have been killed in a hit-and-run crash.

    Gary Police Spokesman Jack Hamady announced Wednesday that Taylor’s body was found in a shallow ditch at around 9 a.m. more than a mile from the crash scene.
