Five teens were killed Monday night in a ravaging house fire that erupted in a Genessee, Pennsylvania home, authorities said.
The house of Charlie and Michele Erway caught fire at around 3:30 a.m. and their three children alongside two of their friends were trapped and couldn’t be saved.
“I was down in the front room sitting in the chair and I thought I heard a Boom!” Charlie’s dad who lives next door recalled.
“Charlie usually goes to work toward the morning, and I thought at first he had started his car; but when I looked out here, it wasn’t car lights I was looking at. The house was pretty well engulfed.”
The couple also sustained burns and injuries. They were flown to a Rochester, New York hospital.
Three of the children were Northern Potter School District students.
