Authorities in Murfreesboro, Tennessee have arrested a man they said had beaten both his parents, killing his father at the family’s Colyn Avenue home.
DeJahn Tyson, 21, was arrested Wednesday night after officers responded to the residence at around 9 p.m. to find him standing over his father’s body holding an unspecified object.
The victim, 54-year-old Perry Tyson, was pronounced dead at the scene after numerous attempts to revive him.
Police said that Tyson had also tried to kill his 55-year-old mother who was found with multiple stab wounds. She is listed in stable condition.
At the time of the attack, there were two other people at the home who were reportedly not harmed.
The suspect was charged with murder and attempted murder with his bond set at $1 million. He is being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center pending a court hearing later this month.
