Memphis authorities said that one suspect is in custody and another is at large over the despicable attack against a wheelchair-bound man last August.
Ramarreao Prince Akins, 41, was ambushed outside a grocery store on August 12. He was beaten and kidnapped before his lifeless body was discovered in a Shelby County field with at least six gunshot wounds.
24-year-old Jerome Nichols was identified as one of the suspects in the heinous acts against the victim who had both his legs amputated and couldn’t defend himself.
Nichols was charged with premeditated first-degree murder, kidnapping, and aggravated robbery resulting in serious bodily injury.
Investigators have asked anyone with information about the second suspect in Akins’ murder to come forward and call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
