The human remains found Tuesday in a shallow grave were confirmed as missing teen Naomi Irion, an 18-year-old who vanished from a Walmart in Fernley, Nevada on March 12.
Authorities have since arrested 41-year-old Troy Driver in connection with Irion’s disappearance. Detectives identified him from surveillance footage showing him lurking around Irion’s car outside the Walmart where was last seen alive.
Driver, a California native, had admitted to being an accessory to murder in 1997 when he helped a woman get rid of her drug dealer boyfriend’s body after she killed him.
The man was also sentenced to 15 years in jail for the armed robbery of several gas stations and burglary at a hardware store.
On Tuesday, remains of Irion were found in a gravesite in rural Churchill County, nearly 150 miles away from the Walmart where Driver allegedly kidnapped her at around 5 a.m.
Investigators have seized his truck looking for evidence as Driver remains in custody on a $750,000 bond.
