6 students hospitalized after eating drug-laced edibles in Pennsylvania

Six middle-schoolers were transported to the hospital Thursday morning after they ate drug-laced edibles on the campus of their McKeesport school in Pennsylvania.

The South Allegheny Middle School students became visibly sick shortly after they consumed the edibles prompting the school nurse to call medics for help.

  • After the incident, middle and high schools were placed on lockdown. The children’s families were notified while officials searched bookbags for drug paraphernalia.

    “Today, at approximately 8:30 a.m., several middle school students experienced severe sickness within minutes of each other,” the district announced in a statement.

    “Ambulances were called to the campus to triage the students because drug-laced edibles were ingested, causing sickness in those students,” the statement added.
