Alabama authorities believe that the badly burned body found in a secluded area in Lawrence County Monday is that of David Guess who was kidnapped hours earlier by two men.
The body suspected to be the 51-year-old man was found less than 2 miles away from a residence where Charles Allan Kneel, 43, and his 17-year-old son Devon Allan Keel had beaten and shot him, according to eyewitness Tyler Tippett.
“Tippett states David Guess was beaten over the head with a pipe and then when they tried to flee Charles or Devon shot at them twice and they stopped.”
The witness added that the pair claimed Guess owed them $1,500 before they flipped him into a truck’s bed and took off. “David has not been heard from since.”
“I do believe the body could be David Guess, but until we get the forensic odontologist’s report, the decedent’s identity will be undetermined,” County Coroner Scott Norwood said.
“It was a horrific scene. No active fire or smoke and the body was cold to the touch.”
