Chicago news, Illinois news.

Authorities in Chicago said that four people burned to death inside a doomed SUV after it was smashed by a freight train at a local rail crossing Wednesday.

Police believe the Dodge Durango was in the midst of crossing the Harvey rails when the CSX crashed right into it.

The horrific crash, police added, caused the car passengers to “immediately incinerated.”

“There’s no way for us to know the motivation of someone driving a car,” Harvey City Spokesperson Jason Baumann said.

Authorities identified the decedents as Jeremy Robinson, who was behind the wheel, Xavier Moore, Tieasha Rush and Jada Moore.

It took an hour for officials to remove the charred wreck from the tracks. No CSX train passengers were reportedly harmed.

“CSX extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragic incident, and we will work to support local law enforcement as they investigate. The train consisted of three locomotives and 47 rail cars.”
