The Madison County Sheriff’s Office announced in an update that two suspects have been arrested over the murder of a missing 27-year-old woman last seen alive on Feb. 5.
Amber Garrett was charged with first-degree murder and Yudon Allen faces fabricating evidence in connection with the death of Megan Martinez.
Authorities thanked the community for numerous tips that helped track down the two suspects, and ultimately find Martinez’s remains through Allen’s cooperation with investigators.
“Martinez has been known here for a long time,” Chief Deputy Steven Jeter said. “We have several people in our agency that grew up with her, so this is awful for them as well.”
Martinez’s remains were found in a “clandestine grave” within Forest Service Road 207 in San Jacinto. She was last spotted alive as a passenger in the two suspects’ car at a Mini Store & Wash Dry.
“Our goal is to provide answers, is to seek that truth and that’s what law enforcement is trying to do again to provide those answers to bring her home,” Amber Alert Executive Chuck Fleeger added.
