Pomfret news, Maryland news.

A Pomfret, Maryland man was found dead at his home Wednesday surrounded by at least 125 snakes that no one knew of, Charles County officials said.

The snakes were of all kinds and sizes with some venomous species; a neighbor made the grim discovery of the 49-year-old man’s body lying lifeless on the floor after not seeing him for over a day.

Investigators believe the man had died from natural causes but are waiting for an official autopsy to confirm the information.

“I do want to assure the community, and anybody living in this neighborhood, we have not seen that any of the snakes were not properly secured or could have escaped,” Spokesperson Jennifer Harris said.

“I know people were worried that there could be some danger to people living nearby, but at this point, we have not uncovered or determined that any of the snakes actually were not secured after this gentleman’s death.”
