A New York City woman minding her own business was viciously shoved into the tracks of a Times Square subway as a train arrived, police said.
The tragic incident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. Saturday when Simon Martial, a homeless with severe mental health issues, “suddenly” pushed Michelle Alyssa Go, 40, beneath the R train that she was waiting for.
“I pushed a woman in front of a train,” the 61-year-old then told officers as he was being arrested.
“This is a sad day,” acting Metropolitan Transit Authority Chairman John Lieber said. “A New Yorker was going about her business right in the heart of our city, in the heart of our subway system in Times Square, and she lost her life.”
“This is unconscionable. New Yorkers need a safe system,” he added.
