A deadly car crash involving two North Carolina officer brothers and a detained driver is being investigated by the NC State Highway Patrol.

Authorities said that Trooper John Horton had just detained a driver, identified as Dusty Luke Beck, at a traffic stop when his brother Officer James Horton lost control of his cruiser and slammed into them.

The accident occurred at around 9 p.m. just after an inch of rain had fallen in the area, which may have caused the crash.
