Parents arrested after infant daughter found drowning in bathtub while they’re at home

Parents of a 10-month-old girl were apprehended Wednesday after police discovered their daughter drowning in a bathtub while they were at home.

The incident occurred on Dec. 22 when Christian Lane, 22, and Sarah Perkins, 21, called authorities for help after “finding” the baby face-down in the bathtub.

  • “Apparently, two other small children in the home threw clothing or some type of material into the bathtub, clogging the drain and causing the tub to fill up while the parents were elsewhere in the home,” Dothan Police Lt. Scott Owens said.

    The baby is fighting for life at a hospital after being left underwater for “several minutes.” Relatives revealed that her condition is critical.

    Lane and Perkins were charged with aggravated child abuse and released after posting $60,000 in bond each. Their other children have since been placed in the Department of Human Services’ custody.
