Washington State Senator Doug Ericksen had passed away Friday, one month after he told a local radio outlet that he was diagnosed with Covid in El Salvador.
“We are heartbroken to share that our husband and father passed away on Friday, Dec. 17. Please keep our family in your prayers and thank you for continuing to respect our privacy in this extremely difficult time,” the late Senator’s family announced in a statement.
In November, Ericksen revealed he had Covid to KIRO Radio adding that he was not allowed to leave El Salvador where monoclonal antibody treatments were not available.
On November 11, Erickson had sent an email to fellow lawmakers explaining that he “took a trip to El Salvador and tested positive for Covid shortly after he arrived” and asked for the treatment to be flown to him.
