Thursday’s nigh victory against Los Angeles Chargers was just a remainder that Chiefs’ duo Mahomes-Kelce could overturn scores in the very final minutes of any game.
The exceptional combination of the Kansas City Chiefs was indeed able to grant the team an unlikely 34-28 win in overtime against their AFC West-rivals.
“That was a special moment, just in general,” Patrick Mahomes said of 32-year-old Travis Kelce’s victorious touchdown. “I don’t think I’ve ever been part of a walk-off touchdown or anything like that.”
“To be in that moment, find him underneath, and him making such a dynamic play. He cut back, ran by people. You would think he’s old, he can’t run by people, but he’s still running by people. And he got in the end zone. It was just a special moment.”
Kelce’s clutch goal put the Chiefs on the lead in the AFC West ahead of the Bolts as they recorded a seventh victory in a row.
The game’s star, however, did not forget to thank all his teammates’ efforts and contribution to the win.
“Guys just gotta be great,” Kelce said after the game. “We had all the momentum going into the last drive. Our defense played their tails off to help us get that win. I’m so proud of these guys.”
