Mayfield news, Kentucky news.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced a curfew and confirmed Saturday a grim, temporary death toll of 70 fatalities after one of the most devastating tornados ripped the state, traveling nearly 300 miles across the towns of Mayfield, Dawson Springs, and Kentucky.

“This will be I believe the deadliest tornado system to ever run through Kentucky,” Beshear said at a press conference.

“Everything along the line of this tornado, that touched down and stayed down for 227 miles, over 200 in Kentucky, has been severely and significantly impacted.”

The Democratic Governor added that more than 100 people were working at a Mayfield candle factory when the disaster hit. Only 30 had been rescued from debris so far.

“We believe we’ll lose at least dozens of those individuals. It’s very hard, really tough, and we’re praying for each and every one of those families.
