A California tot was shot to the head and killed Saturday afternoon while sleeping in the passenger’s seat of his family’s vehicle, police said.
The white Lexus sedan was reportedly the intended target of the shooter but was caught in gunfire during a road rage incident at 2 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-880 near Filbert Street.
The victim was identified as 23-month-old Jasper Wu. His mom was driving the car back home when a stray bullet struck his head.
“Evidence collected on the northbound side of the freeway may indicate the victims were not targeted and the child passenger was struck by a stay bullet,” police said in a statement.
