Texas teen with disabilities beaten to death, stabbed by 240-pound inmate: ‘They told me he would be OK’

The family of a Texas teen with learning disabilities is seeking justice after he was brutally attacked and killed at an understaffed Harris County prison.

Fred Harris was left brain dead after being slammed against the concrete floor, kicked, and then stabbed to death by a 240-pound violent inmate.

“98 pound special needs inmate brain dead after an attack by a 240-pound repeat violent offender with a knife at understaffed Harris County Jail,” Civil rights attorney Randall Kallinen said. “We shall get justice.”

    Harris’s grieving mom told reporters that he was arrested in October after brandishing a knife at a group of people and that she had asked officers to take care of her mentally disabled son while he is in their custody.

    “When I left, they said my son would be OK and they would handle this, and so we are here now a couple of days later, this wasn’t handled,” she said.
