Oklahoma man found dead in woods after shooting deputy 7 times, killing wife

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Saturday that the suspect who opened fire at a deputy responding to a domestic disturbance had been found dead.

A manhunt for 27-year-old Braedon Chesser ended Friday evening after Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s deputies located the man’s body in a wooded area behind his home.

  • Chesser had been involved in a domestic incident with his estranged wife, that was later found dead at the home, and in a standoff with deputies that saw one of them being shot seven times.

    “The Bible tells us God is our refuge and strength, and present in our time of trouble,” Governor Kevin Stitt said on Twitter.

    “I’m told the deputy is stable and awaiting surgery. I’m praying for his recovery.”
