The Texas Department of Public Safety said Friday that an early morning rollover crash had claimed the lives of four illegal immigrants in Culberson County.
A Nissan Pathfinder carrying 15 immigrants rolled over on State Highway 54, approximately 25 miles north of Van Horn, at around 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Four people were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while five others were flown to University Medical Center in El Paso in critical condition. Six victims were listed in stable condition at a Van Horn hospital.
A total of fourteen people were injured in the crash. Authorities said that the immigrants were from Guatemala.
The fatal crash is being investigated by the Culberson County detectives and Border Protection agents.
